It is true that tabs in other contexts look different, but here in this ticket we are talking about the special case of folder tabs. In my opinion, the appearance of folder tabs in Double Commander should be adapted to that standard. These can be regarded as the "standard" on macOS. Please find attached screenshots from the leading file managers on Mac: Finder (from Apple), ForkLift, Path Finder, Crax Commander, Commander One. I don't see a big difference with standard tabs: PS: Meanwhile I updated to macOS Big Sur, maybe the new problems have something to do with that, don't know. In addition, with that version, the font sizes of some gui objects are too small, and the app icons are damaged and have different sizes, see screenshot2.jpg. (Why is there a dark grey area at all? In the Windows and Linux versions of Double Commander, there are not two shades of grey here, but only one.) It is ugly, because the folder tabs are located in the middle between the light grey and the dark grey area.

Another valid option would be to put the folder tabs to the left hand side (as it is the case with Crax Commander under macOS). It is non-standard, because it doesn't take up the entire width of the File panel (as it is the case with the Finder or with Commander One under macOS, for example).
